If a couple of days ago I was praising Blogio's pLog installation, today it's time for VG's blogs. As far as I know, VG is the biggest media group in Norway and they decided to use pLog for their blogs, which I have to say is a great thing

At the moment it looks like they've got 3 blogs: Teknoisme (technology stuff), Spillblog (videogames), and Oddleiv (football or sports in general) They might have more than these 3, but since I cannot read Norwegian very well and their main page is a bit too busy, I can't find any more... I really like the design that they've used, by the way.

All the blogs seem to be quite busy, specially the football one... Look at this post: 447 comments! This must be the post with the biggest amount of posts I've ever seen in pLog

It's nice to see that big companies out there are not only trusting in pLog for their blogs, but also on the open-source community in general...

Speaking of Norwegian blogs, Blogportalen.no also launched a while ago but looks like there hasn't been any update since the 15th of April... Hopefully it will be updated sometime soon!

Support for pLog in ecto

Ecto, my favourite blog desktop publishing client has got support for pLog. I contacted the Ecto developer a while ago and he agreed to include it in the next release so here it is

It uses the metaWeblog APi by default, so that users can also upload media files easily. Enjoy

Blogio.de: a new pLog site

Blogio is one of the newest pLog-powered sites, but it probably also is the nicest I've ever seen They've done a lot of customizations like a completely new front page, they're showing the user picture by default in all templates, subdomains are enabled by default and each blog has its own "Impressum" page which is something that I believe is required by the German law.

If I could, I would propose Blogio as a role model for future pLog sites. Way too often people expect that pLog fulfils all their needs and requirements out of the box, and that is not our goal because pLog was built to be customized. It is very annoying to see that people cannot be bothered to spend a few hours (or a couple of days) customizing pLog to make it look the way they like and expect us to do it for them... The Blogio folks were willing to make a small effort and the results are outstanding. Congratulations!
