Haven't been talking about music for a while so it's about timeEarly December my friend provided me with 5 DVDs full of music... Not too bad! We share a similar taste for music so everything was very good but I really had a few good surprises when listening to some not so well-known stuff:
- Chromeo - She's in control: these guys sound like some sort of modern 80s dance group, with sharp beats and cheesy electronic tunes. They really do sound like the 80s... sometimes they even remind me of the late Kool and the Gang. If you have a chance to listen to them, start with "Needy girl" or "You're so gangsta". My only negative point is that they sometimes abuse too much of voice effects but so did people in the 80s

- Pauline London - Quiet Skies: laid back, brazilian, warm and jazzy music for a relaxed summer day or a quiet Sunday afternoon. Highly recommended.
- Moodymann - Mahogany Brown : If you take a warm, melodic soul or funky disco sample and repeat it over and over again, you get Moodymann. It's like minimalist techno but instead of the cold Detroit beats we get dark soul samples. It is based on minimalism but the results don't sound so minimalistic even though they are, I suppose because the samples are a bit more complex than just mindless techno beats. I would recommend to start with tracks such as "Stoneodenjoe", "Black Sunday" or "Shades of jade" (from the "Black Mahogani" album)
Enjoy
