It is finally here!

If a few days ago I said that it was coming, it finally arrived yesterday: my new Apple PowerBook G4 15" :) It's the version with a PowerPC G4 running at 1.25Ghz, 512mb of RAM, 80Gb hard disk, DVD-R/CD-RW drive, etc. It simply is one of the best machines I've ever seen: thin, beautifully designed and silent. There is no way you could tell that there is a laptop running in a room where a PB is.

I'll write more about it in the coming days, as I am still getting used to it. You know, I find it strange that after all these years, now there is an "Apple" key, a "Command" key plus the control key. The system is fantastic and it is unbelievably easy to use... I mean, I had never before used Mac OS X but it didn't take me very long to start using all its shortcuts, drag-n-drop operations, etc. Not to mention that it looks fantastic and it's full of eye-candy (I'll post some screenshots soon :))

The FBI uses OS X

25/12/2004 19:29 | Categories: Apple | 0 Comments

I found this article from a Mac site today, and amongst other things, it mentions that many FBI agents use Macs running OS X in the office.

But the article is also very nice to read since it tells a little bit about security and unsuspecting users, from an FBI agent point of view. Worth reading!

iPods played an important role in making the LotR trilogy

25/12/2004 19:29 | Categories: Apple | 0 Comments

AppleAccording to this article, the crew of the LotR used 30Gb iPods to quickly move data from one location to another. But the relationship between LotR and Apple gadgets does not end there. Peter Jackson watched the daily shots from his iPod connected to his G4 laptop on a Apple Cinema Display. I guess this shows how much valued are Apple products amongst creative people!
