Mac OS X Tiger 10.4 videos

Apple has put up a few videos showing off some of the features that are going to be available in OS X 10.4, coming out any time in the next 6 months (in Steve's own words!) This is shaping up to be probably the best desktop OS ever.I really like Spotlight, finally my documents will be easy to find! And how about Automator? However I am still not too excited about Dashboard. I think it's a useless waste of resources unless new great widgets appear from 3rd parties (Apple's default ones are not really useful for anything else than free eye candy)
I also like the new look that apps are going to get, specially becaue the window top bar is going to be somehow merged with the icon toolbar (the best example is the Mail.app video) It looks a bit more metallic than before, and I couldn't notice many stripes either... Is Apple going for a more cyber and tech look?
Also one new interesting feature is Mail.app's Spotlight-powered smart folders, kind of iTunes' smart playlists. It's great, it's about time we got them... I remember using this feature back in my Linux days with Evolution and it was really cool!
I'm looking forward to Tiger

In this keynote speech this morning in the San Francisco MacWorld 2005, Steve Jobs introduced a lot of products. Amongst them:- The new flash-based iPod (dubbed iPod Shuffle), without a screen but at only $149 for 1Gb.
- The new Mac mini, some kind of affordable mac (starting at $499) with a 1.25Ghz G4 processor, 256mb of RAM and a cd burner. Kind of an entry level machine but enough for most people. The good thing: it comes without a monitor (and it looks really sleek!!)
- iLife 05
- iWork 05, Apple's new office suite including KeyNote 2 and Pages

My sister was looking for a new computer... If it depends on me, they've got new computerLook at this beauty:
What else? Well: silent, measuring only 16.5 cm x 16.5 cm x 5.08 cm, this must be the smallest desktop computer ever. Just compare
Lots of positive comments already in Slashdot and OSNews (and few trolls too)

Ecto is a desktop blogging client for OSX, that allows users to blog right from their desktop using XMLRPC APIs. It's quite cool, and I might even start using it... In fact, this has been posted from Ecto using the metaWeblog XMLRPC API and it works quite wellMy first bug report to Apple!

I'm such a happy camper in the OSX field that I'm even helping by reporting bugs to Apple... I happened to notice that coloured symlinks where being shown without a colour in the "open file" and "save as dialogs" in OSX while the Finder was showing them just fine. It's probably easier to take a look at the screenshot that I attachedLet's see if Apple acknowledges this as a bug... I know it's a fairly small one but it's a bug nevertheless!
